Department of Life and Materials Engineering

This department deals with materials and their reactions
from viewpoints of chemistry and biochemistry. We train
technical experts and researchers with wide knowledge.
This department consists of three programs as follows.

| Molecular Chemistry Program |

Through the understanding of the relations between structures and functions
of natural products and of organic, students can obtain deep knowledge and
skills for chemical syntheses, analyses of new compounds or reactions, and
process designing.

| Biological Chemistry Program |

The program deals with proteins, lipids, nucleic acids etc. that are
important in organisms. Student study the structure-function relationships
in vivo reactions to find essentials of protein functionalities, and to
creating new systems with these functionalities.

This program deals with the development of novel polymer materials and
products that support the human health
and safety based on learning from the
function and material production mechanism of the living system. The
fruits of these studies are applicable for industrial and medical use.
